Lydia celebrated her 8th birthday this week. This was her year for a family party. She had the privilege of sharing her special day with family that we rarely see that were in from CA for a wedding. We had such a nice time and we will be sharing lots more pictures later. Lydia poses with her flip-flop cake.
Matthew and Sophia with our 4 kids.
Lydia wanted a flip-flop cake. Thanks to internet instructions, we were able to make one together.
Make a wish!
Admiring her home-made cards.
Of course, we had to have some shoes for the party.
Julianna made Lydia a stuffed-animal purse.
She also received a camera. Her CA family gave her a cute watch. The next 2 pictures were taken today on her actual birthday after a piano recital.
More shoes--a lady can not have too many!
Lydia is a special gal. I know she had a wonderful birthday with her extended family.

We enjoy beautiful weather all winter long while the northern people are freezing, so sometimes spring is hard to notice in Florida. After you have lived here awhile, there are some things that change besides the weather getting very warm. One way I noticed is that my bougenvilla is in full bloom. It is absolutely gorgeous. When the sun shines in the window, it casts a pink glow on my kitchen cabinets.
This is my view from the kitchen sink. The rose is one that we brought in from one of our bushes in the yard-the one we planted in memory of Miriam. Did I mention that I love flowers?
